How do we keep Huntsville a strong community for everyone?

Huntsville is full of people with incredible knowledge and experience. Doctors, nurses, firefighters, tradespeople, business owners, educators, seniors, young people, and community organizations all see our challenges from different perspectives. I don't need to have every answer. Good leadership means listening, finding the people who understand the issue, and bringing them to the table. We should be making much better use of the expertise that already exists in our community.

A strong Huntsville also means making sure our community works for everyone — not just a few. As we grow, we need to protect and plan for the public spaces, facilities, services, and land future generations will need. We need dependable fire and emergency services, better access to healthcare, support for seniors, safe roads and neighbourhoods, and strong recreation and community programs.

We're also seeing the effects of drugs, homelessness, mental-health challenges, and rising costs in our community. We need to take those concerns seriously — both the safety of our neighbourhoods and businesses, and the needs of people who are struggling. These are complicated problems that require the Town to work with experts, community organizations, the District, and other levels of government rather than trying to solve them alone.

Most importantly, people should feel invested in where Huntsville is going. Residents shouldn't simply hear about decisions after they're made. We should invite people in, listen to different perspectives, use the expertise around us, and build solutions together.

I won't have every answer. But I will listen, bring the right people together, and work to make Huntsville stronger for everyone.
